Data Tape and Caption
The Data Tape is almost dead center on the TenKey Tutor, positioned above the QWERTY keyboard and between the Learning Mode Prompts window and the paper tape. This data tape area is the source for the data you will be entering as you learn, practice, and test your skills. Start at the top and enter the displayed numerals and special characters as instructed. The list scrolls as you work so that new data will always be appearing at the bottom of the list.
The Data Tape is inactive in the TenKey Tour and Basics modes. In Learn Touch Keying (mode 3), turn it on or off by clicking the blue underlined word here in the Learning Mode window. In all other Learning Modes, the Data Tape is automatically always turned on.
The gray caption bar at the top of this window says Data Tape in most Learning Modes. However,
In Learn Touch Keying mode, it also shows the word On when enabled.
In Measure Skills mode, it becomes a drop-down list of the skill tests available. A different test is automatically selected when each Measure Skill session starts. However, you can select a specific test from the list, if you wish.
In Use Calculator mode only, the Data Tape caption says Scratch Pad to indicate it is available for storing notes. This tape may be used as a notepad relating to the data being calculated. This tape can be saved as a text file for later review, annotation, or conversion into a progress test input data tape.
