Starting TenKey Tutor

TenKey Tutor maintains individual student records for each user.  This allows each student to individually track and chart progress, review what has been done so far, and also maintain personal preference settings for use from session to session.

Student ID -- Enter your actual name, like John Smith, Jr.

The Student ID is used for charts, titles, and progress reports, and should be meaningful to you, and to your instructor if you have one.

The name is also used to store your personal records on disk, so it can not include some special characters, such as a [\] or [:].  (TenKey Tutor will test and let you know if there are any problems.)

Remember, in a multi-user environment, all users will be able to see your name in the list, so keep it clean!   We suggest using your full name.   They can not see your records, as they are protected by the password you enter, unless you choose to remove password protection (via the Options menu) once you start.

This field contains a drop-down list of active users.  To add a new user in a multi-user environment, simply enter a new name and (optional) password. (The number of users is limited by license purchases.  Check the About TenKey Tutor dialog from the Help menu for this information.)

Student Password

You password may include any sequence of characters and/or numbers.  Blank passwords work also, but if  left blank, anyone can use the Student ID, and the owner's work will show up in the progress records and preference settings.

Passwords protect your student records from all other students.  If they don't know your password, they can't snoop around.

If you prefer not to use a password, you can disable it later using the Password Protect item on the Options menu.

Once entered properly and validated, you can change it again later by using the main menu Options / Change Password selection..

To confirm, please Enter Password Again now.

This text box appears only if you are a new student or are changing your password.

This is used to be sure you have entered your new Student Password correctly, since you can not see it as you type.  If correct, the password becomes the active password until you change it later.  If it does not match the original password entered above, you will then start again with the original password and repeat the process.

If the password is correct, click the OK button to continue.  If you are changing it, this will activate the new password for the active student name.

Click the Cancel button to cancel the login or change password process. If not currently logged in, TenKey Tutor will stop. Otherwise your current status will be restored.
